Exam overview
Indian Coast Guard Navik 2026 recruits Navik (GD — General Duty) and Navik (DB — Domestic Branch) sailors for India's maritime law enforcement and search-and-rescue force. Navik GD requires Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (60%+) and involves sea duties, navigation, and vessel operations. Navik DB is a Class 10 entry for domestic branch duties like catering and sanitation aboard Coast Guard vessels. Application is completely free for all categories.
Navik GD aspirants must master Mathematics, Physics, and General Science at Class 12 level alongside English and Reasoning. The written test has no negative marking, which makes attempted coverage of all questions essential. Physical fitness training for the PFT (1.6 km run within 7 minutes, push-ups, sit-ups) should begin well before the exam. Selected Naviks receive Pay Level 3 (Rs. 21,700/month basic) with MSP of Rs. 5,200 and allowances bringing total take-home to approximately Rs. 35,000–40,000/month.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
