Exam overview
IAF Agniveer Vayu Group X/Y 2026 recruits airmen for the Indian Air Force under the Agnipath Scheme in technical (Group X) and non-technical (Group Y) trades. Group X covers technical trades like Aviation Electronics Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, and Aeronautical trade assistants. Group Y covers ITI, Police, Education Instructor, Automobile, Logistics, and other non-technical trades. Candidates can apply for both groups simultaneously if eligible.
Group X aspirants must master Physics and Mathematics at Class 12 level alongside English and RAGA (Reasoning and General Awareness). Group Y candidates focus on English and RAGA. The Phase-2 AFSB tests physical fitness and psychological adaptability. After the 4-year Agniveer Vayu tenure, 25% are retained as permanent IAF airmen; others receive Rs. 11.71 lakh Seva Nidhi, and many pursue NDA/CDS or CAPF entries with the experience gained.
