Quick Summary
IOCL Recruitment 2026 covers three distinct hiring tracks under Indian Oil Corporation Limited, a Maharatna PSU: Engineer/Officer (Grade A) posts in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical and Civil disciplines filled purely via GATE 2026 score followed by GD/Interview; Non-Technical Officer posts (Marketing, Finance, HR, Law) filled via IOCL's own written exam and GD/Interview; and Trade/Technician Apprentice posts for ITI/Diploma holders filled via a separate written test, skill test and medical exam under the Apprentices Act. Application fee ranges roughly Rs. 300-1,000 with standard exemptions for reserved categories. Officer (Grade A) starting salary is approximately Rs. 60,000-1,80,000 IDA pay scale with total monthly emoluments around Rs. 90,000-1,20,000; apprentices receive a fixed monthly stipend instead of a regular salary. Notification dates, exact vacancy numbers, and exam schedules for 2026 are yet to be announced by IOCL.

Exam overview
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and is India's largest oil marketing and refining company operating refineries, pipelines and the country's widest fuel retail network. IOCL recruitment spans multiple entry routes, including Engineer/Officer (Grade A) posts filled through GATE scores in disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical and Civil engineering.
Alongside the GATE-based Officer route, IOCL separately recruits Non-Technical Officers in Marketing, Finance, HR and Law through its own written examination, and hires Trade Apprentices and Technician Apprentices at the ITI/Diploma level under the Apprentices Act through a distinct written test and skill/medical evaluation. These apprenticeship postings are training engagements with a fixed stipend and do not guarantee regular employment, though many apprentices later apply for regular IOCL vacancies.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
