Eligibility
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university
- Age limit: 21 to 40 years (Gen); SC/ST 5 years relaxation; OBC 3 years; PWD 10 years
- Must hold a valid Domicile Certificate of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory
- Must meet medical fitness standards as prescribed by JKPSC

- General Studies Paper I: Indian History, Culture, Geography, Society
- General Studies Paper II: Governance, Constitution, Polity, International Relations
- General Studies Paper III: Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment
- General Studies Paper IV: Ethics, Integrity, Aptitude
- Essay Paper
- Optional Subject Papers (choose from 26 subjects)
- Preliminary: General Studies + Mental Ability and Aptitude (CSAT)
Exam Pattern
- Prelims: Paper I (GS, 100 MCQs, 2 hours) + Paper II (CSAT, 80 MCQs, 2 hours, qualifying at 33%)
- Mains: 7 written papers — Essay (150), GS I–IV (150 each), Optional Paper I & II (150 each)
- Mains total: 1,050 marks written + 200 marks Personality Test
- Negative marking in Prelims: 0.33 per wrong answer
- Final merit based on Mains written marks and Personality Test
