Exam overview
Kerala PSC KAS (Kerala Administrative Service) Examination is conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission to recruit officers for Kerala Administrative Service (KAS), Kerala Police Service (KPS), and other Group A and Group B gazetted posts in Kerala state government. Kerala PSC is unique in India for charging zero application fee for all categories, making it one of the most accessible state PSC exams. With 300+ vacancies and a broad age range of 18-41 years, KAS is a popular exam for Kerala aspirants.
Kerala PSC KAS preparation requires in-depth study of Kerala history, social reform movements, culture, geography, decentralized governance (Kerala's model panchayati raj), social welfare schemes, and Malayalam language. The exam has a streamlined three-paper Mains compared to many other state PSCs, making preparation more focused. Malayalam language is tested as a compulsory Mains paper. Awareness of Kerala's high human development index, literacy programs, and coastal/forest issues is frequently tested.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
