Exam overview
PPSC PCS (Punjab Civil Services) Examination is conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission to recruit officers for Punjab Civil Service (PCS), Punjab Police Service (PPS), and other Group A and Group B gazetted posts in Punjab state government. The exam has one of the highest application fees in state PSC exams at Rs. 1,500 for general category, with SC/ST/BC candidates entirely exempt, reflecting the state's affirmative action policy. With 200+ vacancies, PPSC PCS is the premier gateway to administrative careers in Punjab.
PPSC PCS preparation requires strong knowledge of Punjab history, culture, agriculture (Punjab's role in India's food security), the Green Revolution, state economy, current affairs, and Punjabi language and literature. The five-paper Mains exam includes compulsory Punjabi language. Candidates should develop writing skills in both Punjabi and English for the Mains examination. Knowledge of Punjab's agricultural challenges, rural economy, and border security issues is particularly important for interviews.
