Exam overview
UKPSC PCS (Provincial Civil Services) Examination is conducted by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission to recruit officers for Uttarakhand Administrative Service (UAS), Uttarakhand Police Service (UPS), and other Group A and Group B gazetted posts in Uttarakhand state government. The exam covers 150+ vacancies and is the premier competitive examination for administrative careers in the hill state of Uttarakhand, known for its religious tourism, hydropower, and natural resources.
UKPSC PCS preparation requires comprehensive study of Uttarakhand history, geography, culture, forest policy, disaster management (relevant due to Himalayan terrain), state economy, and current affairs. The generous age limit of 21-42 years allows candidates more time to prepare thoroughly. The Mains exam has six papers including compulsory Hindi. Candidates should develop strong knowledge of Uttarakhand government schemes, tourism, and environmental issues as these feature prominently in state-specific sections.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
