Exam overview
DSSSB TGT/PGT 2026 is a Delhi government teacher recruitment exam conducted by Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board to fill 4,000+ teaching vacancies in Delhi government schools under the Directorate of Education. With Delhi being one of India's largest school education systems, DSSSB releases regular large-scale teacher recruitment for TGT (classes VI–X) and PGT (classes XI–XII) posts. The exam offers Pay Level 7 (Rs. 44,900/month basic) for TGT and Pay Level 8 (Rs. 47,600/month basic) for PGT, with attractive Delhi government allowances on top, making it one of the most competitive state-level teaching exams.
DSSSB follows a One Tier exam pattern — a single paper combining general sections (reasoning, English, quantitative aptitude, general awareness) with a subject-specific portion. There is no interview stage, so the entire selection is merit-based on the written test. CTET Paper II or DTET is mandatory for TGT applicants. Candidates should allocate roughly equal preparation time between the general sections and the subject paper, practice previous DSSSB papers to understand difficulty level, and focus on speed and accuracy given the 200-question format in 2 hours. Delhi teaching jobs are high in demand due to better pay and urban postings.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
