Exam overview
NVS TGT/PGT 2026 is a highly competitive central government teaching recruitment conducted by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti to staff Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) spread across rural and semi-urban India. JNVs are residential schools providing quality education to meritorious students primarily from rural backgrounds, and teachers here play a central role in shaping the lives of underprivileged children. With 2,000+ vacancies expected, the exam offers Pay Level 7 (Rs. 44,900/month basic) for TGT and Pay Level 8 (Rs. 47,600/month basic) for PGT, along with free residential accommodation — making it one of the most attractive central teaching posts.
NVS selection involves a written test for both TGT and PGT, with an additional interview for PGT candidates. The written test evaluates subject knowledge alongside reasoning, general awareness, and computer literacy. Aspirants should master NCERT textbooks for their subject from classes VI to XII, practice previous year NVS papers, and strengthen their general awareness. PGT aspirants must also prepare for the interview stage, which tests subject depth and communication skills. A 4–5 month structured preparation is ideal for cracking the NVS written test within the top merit bracket.
Preparation tip
Start with the syllabus topics listed above, then practice timed mock tests and revise previous year questions weekly.
