About this exam

UPTET 2026 is the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by UPBEB for certifying candidates for primary (classes I–V) and upper primary (classes VI–VIII) teacher posts in UP government schools. Paper I is for primary level and Paper II for upper primary; both have 150 MCQs in 2.5 hours with no negative marking. Minimum qualifying score is 60% (90/150) for General category. Eligibility

  • Paper I (Classes I–V): 12th pass with 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed or B.Ed degree
  • Paper II (Classes VI–VIII): Graduation with 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed or B.Ed
  • No upper age limit for UPTET
  • UP domicile is NOT mandatory to appear; any Indian citizen can apply
